PART-TIME GUITAR TEACHER – ROCK BAND CAMP (High School Groups, District-Wide)

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

Fine & Performing Arts Director and/or Summer Program Site Coordinator

Position Summary: The Part-Time Guitar Teacher supports the district’s Rock Band Camp by providing targeted small-group and/or sectional instruction for high school students in a pop/rock ensemble setting. The instructor develops students’ lead and rhythm guitar skills, supports solo performance readiness, and may provide instruction on bass parts and technique as needed. The teacher ensures instruction is delivered in a safe, inclusive, and well-supervised learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teach parts and proper techniques for lead guitar and rhythm guitar in a pop/rock ensemble. Teach solo techniques for students assigned solo passages (tone, phrasing, timing, expression, performance confidence). Teach bass parts and proper bass technique as needed to support ensemble success. Create and maintain a safe learning environment for all students, including safe setup/use of instruments and equipment as applicable.

Professional Expectations Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and preparedness for all assigned sessions. Collaborate effectively with Rock Band Camp directors/staff to support student progress and performance readiness. Use clear routines and positive behavior supports to ensure productive learning time. Communicate appropriately and professionally with program leadership and staff using district-approved channels.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skill and experience teaching guitar (lead and rhythm) in a group or instructional setting.
  • Knowledge of pop/rock performance practices and ensemble readiness.
  • Ability to work effectively with high school students and support a range of skill levels.
Preferred
  • Experience teaching bass and coaching student solo development.
  • School-based or youth program teaching/coaching experience.
