The Lead Summer Mentor / Tutor Counselor provides supervision and coordination for Upward Bound summer tutor mentors and supports daily program operations. This role focuses on mentor leadership, communication, and program implementation to ensure a safe, organized, and engaging summer experience for participating high school students.
The hourly pay rate is $20
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Participate in staff orientation. Full participation is a condition of employment.
* Supervise Upward Bound tutor mentors during daily summer programming.
* Conduct regular check-ins and weekly meetings with tutor mentors.
* Provide guidance, coordination, and support to undergraduate mentor staff.
* Monitor mentor attendance, engagement, and responsibilities.
* Support planning and onsite supervision of field trips, workshops, and special events.
* Assist with program setup, transitions, and daily operations as needed.
* Communicate regularly with Upward Bound staff and administrative leadership.
* Enforce Upward Bound expectations, policies, and safety procedures.
* Carry out additional duties as assigned by Upward Bound leadership.
Qualifications
* Upper class college students or graduate students preferred.
* Experience working with high school students in tutoring, mentoring, or youth programs.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to supervise and support a group of college student mentors.
* Commitment to supporting low-income and first-generation students.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced summer program environment.
* Familiarity with Upward Bound and/or TRIO programs is a plus.
Pay Range Disclosure
