Job DescriptionEnglish as a Second Language Teacher – This position provides instruction to English learners in accordance with the district curriculum, Massachusetts Frameworks and WIDA Standards. The ESL teacher implements culturally responsive pedagogy and differentiates instruction so all students can reach their full potential.
Responsibilities- Utilize effective and varied instructional techniques and procedures.
- Provide a standards‑based, student‑centered environment in each class.
- Use educational materials appropriately.
- Maintain a pleasant, neat, and well‑organized classroom.
- Perform scheduled duties and fulfill paperwork responsibilities promptly.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service educational activities.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the content area.
- Understand and implement the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Provide a safe, supportive learning environment for every student.
- Relate well to students of varied proficiency and guide them toward self‑control.
- Promote opportunities for students to develop a wholesome self‑concept.
- Remain approachable to students and parents and foster a positive school‑home relationship.
- Collaborate with school personnel to build positive working relationships.
- Share and exchange ideas, skills, techniques, and materials with colleagues.
- Work effectively with administrative personnel and comply with school and district decisions.
- Supervise students and evaluate their achievement; submitting reports as required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- MA DESE license in ESL and SEI endorsement.
- Proof of licensure and three current letters of recommendation.
- Demonstrated subject‑matter competence and high qualification in the area of licensure.
- Knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and effective curriculum planning and assessment.
- Effective classroom management and instruction in a standards‑based environment.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Excellent listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and commitment to in‑service professional development.
- Support for equity, diversity, and inclusive education.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: As per the WEA contract.
