Bridge Teacher (Special Education, Bridge Program)
Thomas R. Plympton Elementary School, Waltham, Massachusetts. Starting date:
Aug 31, 2026.
- Utilize effective and varied instructional techniques and procedures.
- Provide a standards‑based, student‑centered environment in each class taught.
- Use educational materials appropriately.
- Maintain a pleasant, neat, and well‑organized classroom.
- Perform scheduled duties and paperwork promptly.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service educational activities.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the content area and understand and implement the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Provide a safe, supportive learning environment for every student.
- Relate well to students of varied proficiency and promote opportunities for students to develop a wholesome self‑concept.
- Guide students toward self‑control and provide effective student structure in the total school setting.
- Accept responsibility for the well‑being of each assigned student and remain approachable to students and parents as needed.
- Contribute to a positive and effective working relationship between school and home.
- Share and exchange ideas, skills, techniques and materials with staff and show willingness to work effectively with administrative personnel.
- Accept and implement school and district decisions, comply with department procedures and school committee policies, and fulfill assigned duties and out‑of‑class responsibilities.
- Supervise students and evaluate their achievement; be supervised by the principal and/or director.
- Administer required student testing and assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Massachusetts Department of Education license in Moderate Disabilities, Grades 5‑12, and SEI endorsement.
- Demonstrated subject‑matter competence and high level of qualification in the area of licensure.
- Adherence to professional ethical and social standards, clear and appropriate verbal and written communication, and equitable, sensitive and responsive teaching to all learners.
- Strong classroom management skills, effective instructional planning and assessment, promotion of high standards and equity, and integration of technology across the curriculum.
- Ability to deliver effective instruction, differentiate instruction to meet student needs, administer assessments, and communicate clearly with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
- Excellent listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills; effective interpersonal skills; and skills in instructional subject matter.
- Maintenance of professional competence through continued professional development, including all district‑sponsored initiatives.
- Strong attendance record and commitment to ongoing professional development.
Salary:
As per the WEA contract.
Position type:
Full‑time.
