Must hold a MA DESE teaching license. Preference will be given to those certified in a middle school content area being taught. Facilitate a structured learning environment for daily instruction on MESH power standards.
Program DescriptionDesigned to support middle school students in achieving academic success over the summer to help demonstrate competency in MESH subject areas. This summer school is specifically offered for students in grades 7 and 8 to provide targeted academic support and ensure readiness for the increased expectations of the following school year. These students are identified through the course failure process and the promotional guidelines.
A minimum of 20 students must be signed up for this program for it to run. 6th grade students may be allowed if there are available seats.

CompensationContractual rate of $40 per hour for up to a total of 110 hours for the summer (may be less if job sharing) for a total of up to $4400.
Terms of EmploymentThe summer program will be held from July 6th to August 6th. Program times for students will be Monday – Thursday. Work consists of 4 hours of daily teaching, 30 minutes of supervision of students, and 1 hour of prep daily for 19 days (no prep on the last day of summer school). There will be a 1 hour prep meeting with the site coordinator prior to summer school.
Preparation during summer school may take place on site or from home. Job sharing is allowable to be determined by hiring managers. If you are interested in job sharing and have a partner educator you would like to do this with, please indicate that in your application.
