Position
The Yiddish and East European Jewish Literature and Culture Program in the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University is seeking an instructor for the 2026/2027 academic year to teach YDSH 10 Beginning Yiddish in fall 2026 and YDSH 20 Continuing Yiddish in spring 2027.
Responsibilities- Teach YDSH 10 Beginning Yiddish in fall 2026.
- Teach YDSH 20 Continuing Yiddish in spring 2027.
- MA Degree in Yiddish Language or a related discipline.
- Candidate with a Doctorate in Yiddish or related discipline will receive preference.
- Near‑native fluency in Yiddish.
- Extensive experience teaching at the college level.
- Strong record of teaching specialized topics connected to the Yiddish language, such as relevant literature or culture.
This appointment is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509. The compensation for this position is $17,528.40 ($8,764.20 per course).
