Gann Academy seeks an energetic, creative, and passionate science and outdoor education faculty member to work with a small cohort of 8th graders over the coming school year ). This is a benefit-eligible position that is currently at approximately 40% FTE.
Essential functions include:
- Teach 4 hours per week of middle school science, with a focus on the scientific method and the supervision of individual science projects based on students' interests. Depending on the instructor's expertise, projects may cover environmental science topics and incorporate hands-on fieldwork at the Gann campus, including the Gann Farm and nearby nature preserves.
- Supervise an additional 2–4 hours per week of Physical Wellness classes, encouraging outdoor learning and activity whenever possible. Responsibilities include overseeing students on the Gann Farm, facilitating outdoor sports and physical activities such as frisbee, football, basketball, and walking, and leading local hikes and other nature-based experiences.
- Supervise a small cohort of middle school students for an additional 1-2 hours a week during student clubs, student wellness, and student activities
Note:
This position requires an on-campus presence of approximately 10–12 hours per week, with hours scheduled at various times throughout the day. The role is ideal for a graduate student or an individual with a flexible schedule. Typical working hours fall between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Physical demands include frequent outdoor work, stooping, bending, sitting or standing for extended periods, and carrying equipment. Additionally, dexterity for office machine/supply operations, including but not limited to computers, copy machines, printers, and reaching for files or supplies.
