Waltham Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Long-Term Substitute.
8 FTE Strings and Elementary General Music Teacher to join our Fine and Performing Arts team. This position includes elementary strings instruction and elementary general music instruction. The strings portion of the position is based at the Waltham Dual Language School.
In this role, the educator will create enriching musical experiences and foster a lifelong love of music for students. With a focus on creativity, inclusivity, and skill development, the teacher will design and deliver dynamic lessons aligned to student needs, the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework, and district expectations.
Collaboration with colleagues, families, school leaders, and the Fine and Performing Arts Department is an essential part of this position. We are seeking an educator who is committed to supporting student growth, building positive relationships, and providing a welcoming and engaging music experience for all learners.
Qualifications Education, Training, and Experience- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the grade(s) and subject(s) assigned.
- Demonstrated subject matter competence in music education, strings instruction, and/or elementary general music.
- Experience working with elementary students preferred.
- Knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, including the Arts Framework.
- Effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction.
- Effective classroom management.
- Effective instruction in a standards-based classroom.
- Promotion of high standards and expectations for student learning and musical growth.
- Promotion of equity, inclusion, and appreciation of diversity.
