Associate Director for Internships and Outreach
Brandeis University seeks to hire an Associate Director for Internships and Outreach to be a key player in the growing the Brandeis Journalism Program. This person will expand and oversee our internship program for journalism minors, mapping out an outreach strategy and forging partnerships with regional media organizations to create pathways that help Brandeis students secure meaningful opportunities for experiential learning.
This is a part time position, 14 hours a week. The hiring range is $48.24/hour - $52.36/hour

Key Responsibilities- Expand and oversee an internship program, forging partnerships with media organizations to establish and organize internship opportunities for journalism minors and burnish a brand for what employers can expect from Brandeis interns. Develop strong relationships with nonprofit digital newsrooms in region, creating more experiential learning pathways for Brandeis students. Serve as program's main point of contact for student leadership team (organizing monthly meetings, etc.).
- Meet with each student on our growing roster of journalism minors to map out a personalized internship strategy, advising students on how to advocate for themselves in the hopes of securing a high-quality internship.
- Work with Director to deepen, expand and oversee community connections off campus, particularly through academic-news partnerships. Help design courses that provide experiential learning opportunities within the journalism curriculum through partnerships with nonprofit news outlets in the region.
- Lead outreach efforts to help attract more students to the Brandeis Journalism Program, building relationships on and off campus.
- Lead efforts to re-engage Brandeis alumni working in media. Establish and lead effort to build a program enabling Brandeis journalism students to shadow Brandeis alumni or allies working in the media world during the winter break. Help to build an alumni advisory council and network of alumni mentor.
- Assist Program Director with assorted responsibilities to continue to reimagine journalism education and raise program's profile, on and off campus, including developing social media strategy and planning and co-moderating campus forums with leading figures from the media world. Work with Special Events and Grants Manager on key grant initiatives.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
5-8 years of relevant work experience.
Entrepreneurial skills, organizational/programmatic skills, experience working directly with students, leadership experience in the emerging landscape of nonprofit news startups.
Dimensions and scope

Ambassador responsibilities to represent program in building alliances.
