Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist teachers in the delivery of instruction to students.
The TASC program provides services for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related diagnoses. The main teaching style is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The classrooms have a high student-to-teacher ratio to ensure appropriate support for academic, behavioral, and social needs of all students. Opportunities for both small group and individual instruction exist depending on student needs.
Description of DutiesManagement of the Learning Environment
- Implements student goals and objectives under the direction of the teacher.
- Utilizes educational materials properly.
- Helps maintain a pleasant, neat, and well‑organized classroom.
- Performs scheduled duties promptly.
- Fulfills paperwork responsibilities promptly.
- Maintains professional competence through in‑service educational activities.
- Fulfills other duties as assigned by the building principal.
Management of Student Needs – supporting the student performance Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- G‑tube feeding (trained and supervised by the nurse).
- Implementation of feeding plans (trained and supervised by the speech/language therapist and/or teacher).
- Lifting, moving, and positioning (trained and supervised by the physical therapist).
- Implementing behavior plans, collecting data (trained and supervised by the teacher).
- Toileting, including changing diapers (trained and supervised by the teacher).
- Daily hygiene (trained and supervised by the nurse and teacher).
Student Interactions

Supervises students and evaluates their achievement.
Supervised by principal and/or director.
QualificationsEducation, Training, and Experience
- High school diploma; two years of higher education preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students under the direction of the teacher.
Knowledge Required
- Ability to follow directions effectively.
- Familiarity with student instructional and disciplinary procedures.
Abilities Required
- Implement assigned tasks and activities.
- Monitor students’ safety and security diligently.
- Support and reinforce the teacher’s expectations for students.
Skills Required

Preferred Qualifications
- Trained in Applied Behavior Analysis for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Experience administering discrete trials, providing prompting hierarchy, using incidental teaching opportunities, dispensing reinforcement, and data recording.
- Works in a collaborative model with teachers and specialists within a transdisciplinary instructional approach.
- Knowledge of augmentative/alternative communication methods, sensory diets, reinforcement schedules, and behavior management techniques.

As per the WEA contract.
