Getting Ready for Kindergarten

This program will be open to newly enrolled Waltham Public Schools students entering kindergarten in September 2026 who did not attend preschool and whose families indicate on the Home Language Survey that a language other than English is spoken ority will be given to students who will be the first in their families to attend school in the United States. The Multilingual Department will collaborate with the Parent Information Center and Waltham Family School to recruit students and families for the program.

Students who attend will have the opportunity to become familiar with kindergarten routines, expectations, and classroom structures through guided practice and interactive activities. Caregivers will have opportunities to learn about important aspects of the school system, including early release days, illness and attendance guidelines, transportation, and available community resources such as the Welcome Center, WPY, Waltham Family School, and after-school programming.

Program Dates:
July 21, 23, 28, 30;
August 4 & 6 from 9 - 11

Locations:
Whittemore Elementary School & Plympton Elementary School

Hiring for two (2) paraprofessionals at each site for a total of four (4) paraprofessionals

Salary: 20 hours x $21 = $420
