Job Summary
Nova Biomedical is a global leader in scientific and analytical solutions for the biopharma and clinical industries with a strong commitment to innovation. We are seeking a Senior Scientist II – Sensor Development with experience in sensor and process development to optimize novel biosensors for next‑generation clinical and biopharma platforms.
Responsibilities- Assist technical lead in building, testing and troubleshooting new sensor chemistry and process.
- Design and optimize ion‑selective electrode (ISE) sensors for detection of electrolytes in biofluids for both clinical and biological samples.
- Optimize and maximize sensor use life, shelf life and analytical performance.
- Assist in algorithm development to maximize sensor performance and reduce read time.
- Optimize dispensing process and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop robust manufacturing processes and process controls.
- Collaborate with regulatory to develop analytical verification and validation plans.
- Participate in and potentially lead root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting for R&D and sustaining projects.
- Provide training to junior scientists and associate scientists, promoting an environment focused on technical excellence and innovation.
- Experience with PVC, polyurethane, and silicone‑based matrices for ion sensing applications.
- Experience with planar sensor fabrication and/or thick‑film screen printing, advanced dispensing technologies, and wafer‑level processing methods.
- Proficiency in Excel, Python, Minitab, or JMP for modeling electrochemical systems and visualizing complex datasets.
- Familiarity with design controls under ISO 13485 and FDA QSR 21 CFR Part 820.
- 5+ years of industrial experience in the development of IVD medical devices, particularly electrochemical sensors.
- Skill in sensor formulation, dispensing, testing design, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Proven capability to independently design and conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and effectively communicate findings.
- Leadership experience mentoring teams and cross‑functional collaboration in a fast‑paced environment is desired.
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field is required.
- Ph.D. in a related field is preferred.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods in a laboratory or office setting.
- Manual dexterity to handle laboratory instruments, small components, or computer equipment.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to wear PPE (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, masks, etc.) as required.
- Work environment: exposure to chemicals/biological materials and medical devices in a laboratory setting under controlled safety protocols.

Targeted Salary Range$110,000 – $125,000 per year
