Boston Dynamics is seeking an Robustness Test Technician. You will be a part of a small, fast-moving group helping with the construction, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of integrated mechanical and electrical systems in support of the Spot Engineering team. Every day you will do hands‑on work on system designs and dense electromechanical integrations. You will frequently contribute to lab building and debugging of robotic systems ranging from small test systems to fully integrated robots.
To thrive in this role, you must be able to work quickly and adapt to constantly evolving priorities and technical considerations, while keeping track of several task threads at the same time.

Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.
How you will make an impact:- Conduct initial build of complex prototype electromechanical sub‑assemblies such as computers, power distribution systems, sensors, embedded data acquisition systems, and embedded processors for robotic systems.
- Independently conduct design validation testing for new robot subsystems. Troubleshoot and identify root causes of system failures in sub‑assemblies and complete robots.
- Create test plans and procedures with little engineering guidance. Perform a critical role by identifying detailed and nuanced design issues and recommending corrective actions to design engineers.
- May design custom test fixtures or robot subsystems using CAD programs such as Altium and Catia.
- Plan lab equipment, work spaces, and project timelines in coordination with managers and engineers to ensure we have the environment and equipment necessary to accomplish project goals related to creation of prototype robots.
- Maintain and monitor long‑running test‑stand experiments, collecting test data and noting and communicating unexpected results or issues.
- Hands‑on experience building and debugging electro‑mechanical test setups, fixtures or similar equipment.
- Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, thermal probes.
- Be able to multitask, and change priorities quickly as needed.
- Be able to clearly communicate test results and data verbally, in spreadsheets or other databases, and in written reports/slide decks.
- Experience with test automation.
- Experience with Python and command‑line operations in a UNIX‑like OS.
- Experience working with robots and/or robotic systems.
- Experience with CAD programs such as Catia, Solid Works, or similar.
- Experience interpreting schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience with PCB rework and cable assembly, especially technically difficult rework.
