Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Building Structural Engineer to join our National Integrated Design & Advisory team in Boston (Waltham), Massachusetts. The role involves analyzing design criteria, applicable codes, and client requirements, and preparing calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for building and non-building projects.
Responsibilities- Prepare moderately complex studies, construction documents, basic reports, and other supporting documentation to support structural building design.
- Prepare technical specifications.
- Interpret data and prepare drawings for building and vertical non-building projects.
- Provide engineering and project support to the Designer of Record (DOR).
- Act as DOR, as required.
- Deliver projects and/or tasks on time and within the allotted budget.
- Provide clear redlines for EITs and BIM designers.
- Check design calculations performed by others.
- Handle multiple projects.
- Follow MBI project standards and team protocols.
- Review and comment on construction submittals, respond to Contractor Requests for Information (RFI), and review corrective action for field errors.
- Maintain high proficiency in Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat PDF, and MS Teams.
- Communicate with Senior Engineers, other disciplines, and Project Managers; schedule and attend internal meetings and document important action items.
- Assist with proposal production and implementing marketing initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years of structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
- Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc.
- Familiarity with structural design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Maintain professional licensure in the state where the employee resides.
- Available for periodic travel.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $93,719 to $147,641. This estimate is based on the time of posting and may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, skill set, and physical work location.
