Position: Environmental Health Safety Specialist #26142

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an advanced energy storage R&D organization, is seeking a skilled EHS Specialist. This role is responsible for supporting laboratory safety, hazardous materials management, environmental compliance, and lithium-ion battery safety programs in a regulated R&D environment.

Job Duties
  • Implement EHS programs and procedures in alignment with OSHA, EPA, state environmental, and local regulatory requirements
  • Manage hazardous materials, chemical storage, hazardous waste handling, and disposal processes
  • Oversee chemical hygiene plans and laboratory safety programs in accordance with OSHA lab safety standards
  • Provide guidance on safe handling, storage, and disposal of lithium-ion batteries and energy storage materials
  • Conduct hazard assessments, risk analyses, safety inspections, and compliance audits
  • Maintain records for regulatory inspections, safety audits, training activities, and incident reporting
  • Deliver EHS training on chemical safety, battery hazards, PPE, emergency response, and hazardous waste procedures
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and regulatory audit preparation
Requirements
  • 3+ years of EHS, safety, or environmental compliance experience in a laboratory, R&D, chemical, manufacturing, or regulated facility environment
  • Hands‑on experience with hazardous materials, chemical safety, hazardous waste handling, or environmental safety programs
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, RCRA, and state‑specific environmental regulations
  • Experience supporting chemical hygiene plans, laboratory safety standards, and SDS/MSDS management
  • Experience conducting safety training, compliance audits, inspections, risk assessments, or incident response activities
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting, hazardous waste management, and emergency response planning
  • Ability to work primarily onsite in a laboratory or R&D environment
  • HAZWOPER certification, 24‑hour preferred or 40‑hour acceptable
  • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or related EHS certification
  • RCRA training or OSHA safety training
  • Experience in battery R&D, advanced energy storage, lithium‑ion technology, or chemical laboratory environments
  • Knowledge of lithium‑ion battery handling, fire protection, chemical reaction hazards, or energy storage safety protocols
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections with OSHA, EPA, state environmental agencies, or local authorities
  • Background in EHS consulting, university research labs, facilities safety, manufacturing safety, or safety auditing
  • Experience serving as the primary onsite EHS resource in a small or growing facility
