Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer for a full-time, 6-month contract assignment with the potential to transition into a permanent full-time role. This position is ideal for an engineer with 2-3 years of mechanical design experience who enjoys hands‑on product development, prototyping, and supporting customer‑facing demonstrations.

Experience in the medical device industry is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Principal Design Engineer to assemble and maintain commercial demonstration kits.
  • Support the design, fabrication, testing, and refinement of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Ensure demo kits are fully functional, properly organized, and available for rapid deployment to commercial teams.
  • Coordinate packing, inventory management, and shipment preparation of demonstration equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement design improvements to enhance demo reliability and usability.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, assembly instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Assist with prototyping, validation testing, and product development activities as needed.
  • Manage inventory of demo components, replacement parts, and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace for demo kit assembly and storage.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with Engineering, Product Management, and Commercial teams to support product demonstrations and customer engagements.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 2-3 years of mechanical engineering, product design, or design engineering experience.
  • Experience using CAD software (Solid Works preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on experience building and testing assemblies.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
  • Experience in the medical device industry.
  • Experience supporting prototypes, demonstration systems, or low‑volume assemblies.
  • Familiarity with design controls, documentation, and regulated product development environments.
  • Experience with inventory management and logistics coordination.
Work Environment

This role combines engineering design work with hands‑on assembly, testing, and operational support. The ideal candidate enjoys working both at a desk and in a lab/workshop environment and takes pride in delivering high‑quality demonstration systems that represent the company's products to customers and stakeholders.
