Overview

POSITION: CRE Credit Lead

Position Summary

The CRE Credit Lead will oversee and mentor a group of Commercial Credit Analysts in gathering, analyzing, and presenting essential information for informed credit decisions for all CRE credits. This role, in conjunction with their C&I Credit Lead counterpart, will oversee the Credit Training Program, manage team workflow, review and evaluate credit analyses for accuracy and consistency, and ensure adherence to credit policies and risk standards.

The CRE Credit Lead partners with senior leadership to monitor portfolio risk, supports effective team collaboration, and stays informed of economic and regulatory trends impacting the Bank's commercial lending activities.

Key Result Areas
  • In conjunction with their counterpart will manage and oversee the Credit Training Program, including developing and directing ongoing training and educational needs for Commercial Credit Analysts, evaluating individual and team performance, and collaborating with Learning & Development to ensure appropriate resources and support are available
  • In conjunction with their counterpart will manage the workflow of the Credit Analyst Team. Review and provide feedback on the individual credit work products for consistency, accuracy and adequacy. This includes identifying strengths and weaknesses, all material aspects of the borrower, guarantor and transaction analysis, and the accuracy of the risk rating to ensure the information is sufficient to make an informed lending decision
  • Ensure timely and consistent underwriting of all credit relationships as well as adherence to credit risk policies. Develop, interpret and apply credit policies and procedures
  • Contribute and support effective team management by fostering strong collaboration and partnership across the organization
  • When necessary, Partner with lending officers and portfolio managers to understand proposed lending transactions, prepare written credit analyses of those proposed transactions, and assist with obtaining approval of such requests, including new loans, renewals, modifications, and annual reviews
  • Partner with the Chief Credit Officer to monitor and manage credit risks across the Commercial portfolio. Fill in for the Chief Credit Officer as needed, including convening and moderating Internal Loan Committee
  • Ensure adherence to the Bank's guidelines, loan policies, and procedures by all team members and in all credit products
  • Stay abreast of economic, financial, political events as well as regulatory trends and changes that would impact the Bank's loan portfolio, lending activities or policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, in business, finance, or accounting, preferred
  • 7+ years' work experience in banking or financial services
  • Proven ability to understand complex credit scenarios with 5+ years of direct credit analysis experience in the key areas of commercial lending (C&I and CRE)
  • In depth understanding of Commercial Loan Policy and applicable Federal and State regulations
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to foster collaboration and teamwork
  • Proficient in training and mentoring team members
  • Strong analytical skills and is proficient in financial accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and independently, meet deadlines, and effectively manage others to do the same

Salary Range: $150,000 - $190,000

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Cambridge Savings Bank ranges from $150,000 - $190,000. Cambridge Savings Bank will determine actual compensation for the role based on factors including, but not limited to, the successful candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
