Direct Support Professional II - Asleep Overnight

This role acts as a caregiver for individuals with an intellectual disability, developmental disability, or an acquired brain injury (ABI or TBI). Customer service skills, administrative skills, and compassion are essential for a Direct Support Professional.
Compensation and BenefitsPay: $20.50/hr awake hours (additional $1/hr differential for active MAP certification); $17.50 asleep hours (no differential).

Snapshot:
Some duties of a Support Advocate may include the following, depending on resident abilities and program needs. Support Advocates provide day-to-day services to program participants and assist and/or teach individuals varying levels of personal care (e.g., bathing, toileting, teeth brushing) to help individuals look and feel their best. They assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, and shopping, and provide opportunities for individuals to increase control and responsibility over daily lives.
They may accompany individuals to appointments. They may administer medications or support self-medication in accordance with residential guidelines. They follow routines such as Behavior Support Plans and other personal care or therapeutic activities as applicable.
They receive a paid 5-day New Employee Orientation and training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and the Medication Administration Program (MAP). Additional program-specific training is provided at the work site.
QualificationsEducation & Experience:
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma, GED, or HiSET required
- 1-3 years of related experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s License & Good Driving Record
- CPR/First Aid and MAP certification required (paid training provided if needed)

- Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and their own lives
- Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school)
- Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated team member
