Sanofi's contingent workforce program, FLEXT Direct, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant I for a 12-month contract.
The Genomic Medicine Unit (GMU) CMC group at Sanofi is dedicated to the establishment of best-in-class manufacturing platforms to support development of life-changing advanced cell and gene therapy products, including recombinant AAV vectors, lentiviral vectors, and cell therapy products. This organization encompasses vector and cell line engineering, upstream and downstream process development, analytics, and clinical manufacturing support.
The cell culture process development group is responsible for viral vector production optimization and development of next generation production platforms to support high dose therapeutic products. The group is seeking a motivated research technician to join the team in a hands‑on laboratory support role focused on equipment setup, media preparation, and operational execution. This position does not involve designing or running experiments or generating scientific data.
Key Responsibilities- Support the preparation for viral vector production process development experiments at bench to 2000L scale
- Work with risk group 2 infectious materials, follow safe lab procedures, and maintain good laboratory practices (GLPs)
- Perform cell culture media preparation with volumes up to 650L
- Aliquot media into specified containers aseptically
- Assemble, autoclave and take down bench scale bioreactor systems and other assemblies required for various operations
- Assist with single‑use bioreactor setup and take down
- Perform media transfers into bench scale and large‑scale bioreactor systems from 3L to 2000L
- Perform calibrations and maintenance on laboratory analytical instruments
- Management of lab consumables including inventory tracking, and restocking
- General lab cleaning, maintenance, and stewardship activities
- Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team orientated environment
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions
- Ability to stand and work with pilot‑scale lab equipment
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Good organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Experience with cell culture techniques with understanding of aseptic operations a plus
- Experience with small scale and/or single‑use bioreactor systems a plus
- Experience with media, buffer, or reagent preparation
- cGMP experience or support a plus
- Motivated and self-directed with commitment to meet aggressive timelines
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work under moderate supervision and function within a collaborative/team-oriented environment.
