Summary

Responsible for performing advanced tasks in the sterile processing department within a healthcare facility.

• Receive and process used medical instruments and equipment from operating rooms and other departments.
• Load instruments and equipment into sterilizers, adhering to prescribed loading patterns and protocols.
• Perform regular quality checks to ensure instruments, equipment, and packaging materials comply with sterilization standards.
• Manage inventory levels, including receiving, inspecting, and restocking sterile supplies.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and instruments.
• Provide guidance and training to less experienced sterile processing technicians.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required

Experience as a Central Sterile Technician or similar role in a healthcare setting. 1-2 years required.

• Thorough knowledge of sterile processing principles, practices, and infection control standards.
• Familiarity with medical instruments, equipment, and surgical procedures.
• Proficiency in instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques.
• Understanding of sterilization equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
