Lead Practice Assistant

Our growing ambulatory cancer center is seeking a Lead Practice Assistant to help coordinate daily operations and support a high-performing team of Senior Practice Assistants. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, a proactive approach to resolving challenges, and the ability to inspire and support colleagues through changing priorities. This role offers the opportunity to develop leadership skills while playing a key role in delivering exceptional service to patients and care teams.

Summary:

Oversees day to day operation of an outpatient clinic or practice. May assist by assigning and prioritizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, training and orientation, providing back up support for a Supervisor or Manager. Provides guidance and help to others to resolve complex issues and problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs assigning and prioritizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, training and orientation, providing back up support for leadership.
  • Acts as "Super User" for scheduling, registration and billing systems.
  • Provides assistance and training to others in these areas.
  • May perform more complex or specialized functions (i.e. surgical scheduling, schedule changes/blocking) at more advanced competency level.
  • May function as a backup for clerical staff to perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office, and make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
  • May process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record.
  • Provides functional guidance to related team.
  • Assists Supervisor with daily activities of practice staff.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Experience:

5-7 years office experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of all Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with staff of all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
