Technical Writer
Senior Staff Technical Writer – Boston Dynamics
As a Senior Staff Technical Writer, you’ll support the Customer Learning & Development (CL&D) team’s strategic goals around empowering internal and external customers in using Boston Dynamics’ products. You’ll report to the Manager of Documentation Systems, collaborate closely with subject matter experts, and play a key role in supporting our customer-facing Support Center.
Responsibilities- Rapidly develop and implement technical documentation.
- Support learning and design efforts to improve our service and support products.
- Design, develop, and support safety and compliance standards for operators.
- Utilize AI strategically, safely, and appropriately to support content development and simple coding tasks when needed.
- Enable stakeholders to contribute and share their knowledge, facilitate transfer to our doc build systems.
- Ensure that documentation related to our features stays up to date.
- Leverage understanding of SEO, topic‑based doc standards, and user experience to properly design content for efficient search and navigation.
- Implement appropriate doc transformation technologies, integrating them with existing systems.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with team members as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Technical Writing, or other related fields.
- Demonstrated experience using programmatic technical markup languages (Markdown, HTML, XML).
- Experience with configuring and maintaining doc publishing pipelines.
- Experience with technical user manuals for hardware and software based products.
- Ability to communicate complex technical matters to various audiences, including non‑technical and first‑time users.
- Strong interest in designing content models to provide consistent pattern recognition.
- Strong organization, project management, and communication skills.
- Experience with Docusaurus or other Markdown to HTML libraries.
- Proficiency in DITA XML, Standard HTML and CSS development.
- Experience with Git or other change management tools.
- Experience with Agile workflows and Jira project management.
- Experience supporting documentation designed for localization.
- Experience with CRM platforms.
The base pay range for this position is between $117,000 – $145,000. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to, internal equity, job‑related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good‑faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
