Sironax is seeking a highly motivated and scientifically rigorous Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to serve as a key field-based scientific expert supporting the company's clinical-stage neurology and neurodegenerative disease portfolio, including programs in ALS. Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Development US & EU, the Director, MSL will establish and maintain trusted scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, academic researchers, advocacy organizations, and healthcare professionals.
This individual will serve as a critical bridge between the external scientific community and Sironax's internal team, contributing to scientific strategy, providing clinical insights, supporting clinical trial initiatives, and helping establish Sironax's medical affairs capabilities in preparation for future clinical development and product commercialization.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with KOLs, investigators, treatment centers, and healthcare professionals and facilitate bidirectional scientific exchange between external experts and internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary field-based scientific expert on Sironax's pipeline, clinical programs, disease-state knowledge, and emerging scientific data.
- Conduct high-quality, compliant scientific discussions regarding disease pathophysiology, treatment landscapes, unmet medical needs, and clinical research.
- Collaborate with Clinical Operations by identifying potential trial sites and investigators, and gathering investigator feedback regarding protocol design, endpoint selection, patient recruitment, and operational execution.
- Participate in investigator meetings, advisory boards, and scientific workshops.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate field insights regarding the competitive landscape, emerging scientific trends, treatment patterns, unmet patient needs, clinical research trends and clinical practice evolution.
- Support due diligence activities and scientific assessments with potential business development opportunities.
- Partner with Sironax leadership to execute field engagement strategies.
- Support development of medical communication materials, scientific and investor slide decks, training content, and evidence summaries.
- Lead scientific congress planning and execution, representing Sironax at major scientific and medical congresses.
- Participate in advisory board planning and management.
- Contribute to publication planning and scientific communication initiatives.
- Facilitate KOL meetings and scientific discussions during congresses.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with FDA regulations, OIG guidance, PhRMA Code, Sironax SOPs, applicable global regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of field medical activities.
- Advanced scientific or clinical degree required (MD, Pharm
D, PhD, DNP). - Minimum 7–10 years of biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, or clinical research experience, with at least 5 years as a MSL in a clinical or commercial stage biotech or pharmaceutical company.
- Experience in neuroscience, neurodegenerative diseases, or neuromuscular disorders strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success engaging KOLs and academic investigators.
- Experience supporting investigator-sponsored studies and clinical trial initiatives preferred.
- Exceptional scientific presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear and actionable insights.
- Strong written communication and scientific storytelling capabilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
- Global experience supporting programs across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions preferred.
- Attendance at major national and international scientific congresses.
- Travel to investigator sites, academic medical centers, and advocacy events throughout North America and internationally as needed.
