Overview
The Enterprise Architect Principal (Director) is responsible for defining and governing the organization’s technology strategy, enterprise architecture roadmap, and target-state architecture to enable business growth, operational excellence, and digital transformation. This role serves as a strategic bridge between business leadership and technology teams, ensuring that enterprise platforms, applications, data, integrations, infrastructure, and emerging technologies align with business objectives and deliver long-term value.
The Enterprise Architect develops and maintains architecture principles, standards, and governance processes while driving modernization initiatives across enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, data platforms, integration services, cloud technologies, and AI-enabled solutions. This role collaborates with business stakeholders, solution architects, application owners, and external partners to evaluate technology investments, reduce technical debt, improve interoperability, and establish scalable enterprise capabilities. The ideal candidate possesses deep experience in enterprise architecture frameworks, business process transformation, cloud technologies, integration strategies, data architecture, and technology governance.
They are expected to identify opportunities for innovation, rationalize application portfolios, and guide strategic technology decisions that support organizational objectives. The Enterprise Architect plays a critical role in shaping the future-state technology landscape, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with the company’s long-term business strategy.
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, strategy, roadmap, principles, and governance standards.
- Partner with business and technology leaders to align technology investments with strategic business objectives.
- Develop future-state architecture models covering applications, integrations, data, infrastructure, cloud, and security domains.
- Lead architecture reviews to ensure solutions comply with enterprise standards, scalability requirements, and security policies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions that drive business value and operational efficiency.
- Establish application portfolio management practices, including technology rationalization and technical debt reduction strategies.
- Define enterprise integration strategies and promote reusable, scalable integration patterns across business systems.
- Provide architectural leadership for major transformation initiatives, including ERP, CRM, AI, analytics, and digital modernization programs.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, and application teams to ensure cohesive enterprise-wide solutions. Create and maintain architecture artifacts, standards, reference architectures, technology roadmaps, and governance documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 15-18 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or technology leadership roles.
- Proven experience developing enterprise architecture strategies, technology roadmaps, and governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise business applications including ERP, CRM, HRIS, data platforms, and integration technologies.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), integration architectures, APIs, and data management practices.
Salary range: $156,000-$240,000. Compensation decisions are based on qualifications, location, internal equity, and market data. Eligible employees may participate in variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and may receive equity.
