CSL seeks a Director, Search & Evaluation Early TA Lead to drive early stage therapeutic area (TA) strategy in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. In this role, you will identify, assess, and prioritize external innovation opportunities, including assets, platforms, and partnerships that align with CSL's biotherapies, vaccines, and plasma derived portfolio. You will lead due diligence, collaborate with R&D, commercial, and corporate development teams, and provide evidence based recommendations to senior leadership.
You will shape portfolio strategy, mentor a small team, and represent CSL in key scientific, clinical, and business forums worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead search and evaluation of early stage external innovation opportunities in priority therapeutic areas
- Conduct scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial due diligence on potential assets and platforms
- Develop strategic recommendations and business cases for in licensing, partnerships, and collaborations
- Collaborate with R&D, commercial, and corporate development teams to align opportunities with portfolio needs
- Monitor competitive landscape, scientific trends, and emerging technologies in biotherapies and vaccines
- Present findings and strategic options to senior leadership and governance committees
- Build and manage relationships with academic institutions, biotech companies, and other external partners
- Guide early opportunity assessments, valuation inputs, and risk/benefit analyses
- Provide thought leadership on early portfolio strategy and unmet medical needs
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, science driven culture
