Evolv is seeking a Systems Engineer to administer,operate, and continuously improve our core IT systems—from Microsoft 365 and virtualization to cloud infrastructure and disaster recovery. Reporting to the Senior Director of Cybersecurity & Technology,you'llbe the reliable technical engine behind Evolv's IT operations, working alongside a Network & Cybersecurity Engineer peer who owns network and security.
You'll collaborate across the organization, build trusted partnerships with stakeholders, and serve as a subject matter expert on day-to-day systems and cloud operations. Ifyou'reenergized by keeping complex systems running smoothly and making everyemployee'sday a little easier, this role is for you.
Success in the Role:What are performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
In the first 30 days, you will:
- Get to know the IT team and the systems/platforms they currently support
- Start building relationships with key stakeholders throughout the company
- Gain familiarity with the current systemstoolstack:
Microsoft 365, virtualization/backup infrastructure, AWS/Azure, and disaster recovery processes - Learn Evolv's data management practices and how systems operationssupportsthem
Within 3 months, you will:
- Begin implementing or improving processes that measurably reduce operational risk and downtime
- Build trust-based relationships with peers in IT and key stakeholders across business units
- Become an established subject matter expert on Evolv's systems, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure
- Take ownership of offsite/disaster recovery replication and testing cadence
By the end of the first year, you will:
- Be recognized as a trusted subject matter expert across systems administration, virtualization, and cloud operations
- Have driven measurable improvements to IT operational maturity and resilience
- Successfully supported corporate data management initiatives, including classification, retention, and deletion practices
- Developed and documented systems and processes that empower the broader IT team and reduce single points of failure
- Be seen as a go-to resource by colleagues across the company for day-to-day systems questions and best practice guidance
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Systems, Infrastructure & Operations:
- Administer Microsoft 365, including
Exchange,Teams,and Share Point - Own virtualization(Nutanix) and backup(Rubrik) infrastructure, including Windows and Linux guest VMs
- Manage offsite/disaster recovery replication and testing
- Support corporate data management initiatives: data classification, retention, and deletion
- Operate day-to-day AWS/Azure infrastructure: EC2, S3, resource groups, costmanagementand budgeting
- Provide front-line escalation support and mentoring to IT teammates;maintainrunbooks and documentation
- Act as a trusted technology advisor to internal stakeholders on day-to-day systems needs
You will join the IT organization as a direct report to the Senior Director of Cybersecurity & Technology, working alongside a Network & Cybersecurity Engineer peer who owns network infrastructure and security operations.
This is a hands-on, collaborative team that takes security and operational excellence seriously. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on deep technical impact—your job is to keep Evolv'senterprisesystems,services, and cloud infrastructure running smoothly through the processes and automation you build.
