Job Description
Summary:
The Ice Technician (Temporary) will work as part of a team of operators that are directly responsible for the care and maintenance of the rink and ice resurface rs for the Bentley Arena. This position performs regular maintenance as outlined in essential duties. This role is vital to ensuring smooth operations, successful events and positive customer experiences. All candidates must possess a working knowledge of, and experience with, all ice operations, a strong work ethic, a high level of professionalism and a commitment to the University and their fellow Team Members on the staff.
Duties – Ice Technician
- Resurface ice between ice sessions as needed by the daily users
- Work independently to resolve user issues or emergencies
- Perform maintenance duties as needed or assigned utilizing hand or machine tools
- Perform opening and closing shift checks on the ice and ice resurface rs
- Maintain cleanliness and inventory of resurfacer room
- Maintain proper logging of ice and machine maintenance
- Perform depth measurements to maintain a level surface
- Inspect rink and shielding for any damage
- Communicate with arena management on any repairs that are identified
- 1-3 years of operating an ice resurfacer
- Basic knowledge of ice related activities
- Prior experience working in an ice rental environment
- Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier.
- Prior experience in a college hockey environment
- Prior experience working with two ice resurface rs
- Familiarity with Zamboni 552
- The work environment includes cold temperatures with occasional meetings in an office setting.
- A significant amount of time is spent with water and dangerous walking conditions
- Physical skill and ability required. Must be able to lift, move, and/or operate maintenance equipment. This job requires the ability to climb on a repetitive basis.

This temporary position has a fixed hourly rate of $26.00, paid for hours worked during the approved assignment period.
