HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Service Controls Technician to support our growing building automation and controls business. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and contributing to high‑performing building systems.
In this role, you’ll support both internal project teams and external customers by performing system startups, programming, troubleshooting, and upgrades of HVAC control systems. You’ll also serve as a mentor to junior technicians while helping deliver reliable, high‑quality automation solutions.
What You’ll Do- Perform system startups, checkouts, and commissioning for HVAC control systems
- Load and configure programs and databases both onsite and remotely
- Write and modify basic control programs and graphics
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system issues
- Support retrofit, upgrade, and service work on existing systems
- Provide second‑level on‑call support for critical building emergencies
- Create accurate red‑line drawings and checkout documentation for every project
- Mentor and support junior Controls Technicians
- Assist with engineering‑related tasks, including:
- VAV, FCU, and FPB database creation
- Material selection
- As‑built documentation
- Owner and end‑user training
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands‑on experience
- 5+ years of field experience in HVAC controls
- 4+ years of experience working directly with building owners and end users
- Experience with Niagara, Tridium, BACnet, and/or Modbus systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with CMiC (preferred) and/or Service Trade or similar service software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced technical aptitude with HVAC control systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and sequences of operation
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Customer‑focused mindset with strong relationship‑building skills
