Nova Biomedical Engineering Technician Supervisor

This person will be responsible for supervising a team of engineering technicians who will maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade gantry systems, filling systems, dispensing systems and other equipment used in the production of Nova Biomedicals Consumable Products. The primary objective is to minimize equipment downtime, ensure efficient manufacturing operations, and drive continuous improvement through preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and process optimization. This role combines hands-on technical support with leadership responsibilities to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities, effective problem resolution, and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of engineering technicians supporting production equipment
  • Assign and prioritize work to ensure timely response to equipment issues and production needs
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to technicians
  • Oversee troubleshooting of dispensing gantry systems utilizing camera positioning systems
  • Ensure rigorous daily/weekly maintenance of dispense systems and associated equipment
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment including:
    • Laser & plasma etching units
    • Dispensing equipment
    • UV curing stations
    • Microscopes
    • Vacuum ovens
    • Pneumatic presses
    • Laminators and drying ovens
    • Filling/Bottling Equipment
  • Review tools and fixtures for wear; coordinate replacement and improvement efforts with machine shop
  • Escalate and coordinate with equipment manufacturers for technical support and service requests
  • Partner with engineering to implement new tooling, fixtures, programs, and processes, including:
    • Updating documentation
    • Establishing maintenance procedures
    • Supporting training requirements
  • Lead daily/weekly review of equipment issues and downtime to drive continuous improvement
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and implement proactive measures to improve reliability
  • Develop and maintain equipment downtime metrics and reports
  • Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate with manufacturing to minimize production impact
  • Ensure execution of maintenance activities in alignment with production schedules
  • Establish and maintain spare parts and component programs to minimize downtime
  • Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and engineering-led initiatives as needed
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, GMP, and documentation requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for in you

  • 10+ years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
  • 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross functional team.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail and prioritize workload.
  • Efficient response to issues as they arise to minimize delays in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Physical Requirements for this role include:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to [25–50] pounds as required.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, or climb as needed.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., noise, temperature, equipment).
• Ability to operate tools, machinery, or technical equipment.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Work Location:

on-site in our Waltham facility 5 days/week

Targeted Salary Range: $43 - $47/hour

Working Hours:

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
