Summer School Nurse
The School Nurse provides professional nursing services to support the health, safety, and academic success of students. The nurse promotes disease prevention, responds to medical needs, and ensures compliance with Massachusetts health and education regulations.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
BLS Certification
Knowledge of pediatric and community health practices
Communicable disease prevention and control
Federal, state, and local public health regulations
Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act Essential
Provide assessment and treatment of student illness and injury
Respond to medical emergencies; administer first aid, CPR, AED, and prescribed medications
Monitor communicable diseases and manage exclusions/readmissions
Maintain accurate health records and required reports
Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in accordance with state law
Communicate effectively with families, staff, and administrators
Report suspected abuse/neglect in compliance with state regulations
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervision Reports to the Building Site Coordinator and works under the general direction of the Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements Ability to respond to emergencies, carry equipment, climb stairs, assist with student mobility, and perform essential nursing functions.
