Immediate need for a talented Research Associate II
.
This 12+ month contract opportunity is located in Waltham, MA (Onsite) and offers long‑term potential.
Job ‑14221. Pay Range: $40–$51/hour. Employee benefits include health insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on location).
Responsibilities- Support the development, design, and conduct of viral vector purification experiments and evaluate new technologies to increase product yield and process understanding.
- Develop, maintain, and demonstrate advanced knowledge of principals and techniques in column chromatography and other downstream purification areas.
- Maintain industry knowledge of new technologies and be willing to publish findings and speak internally and externally as industry leaders.
- Lead or support development of study design, optimization of purification process conditions, media screening, and perform troubleshooting experiments; communicate findings with appropriate working groups.
- Perform data analyses and contribute to technical reports and internal/external presentations.
- Support scale‑up activities to implement a manufacturing process based on applied DSP knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external teams, including CDMOs for tech‑transfer activities.
- Contribute to manuscript and patent writing for external publications and patent applications.
- Display self‑motivation and sound technical judgment.
- Build a culture of support and collaboration among colleagues.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences or related discipline; at least 2 years of relevant experience (Master’s candidates may be accepted without additional work experience).
- No PhD candidates; candidates overqualified will not be considered.
- Professional industry experience with protein purification chromatography, AKTA or automated chromatography, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, virus clearance and inactivation, and unit operations at various scales.
- Strong knowledge of chromatography principles and modalities.
- Experience with design of experiments (DOE) and quality by design principles.
- Ability to produce technical reports and contribute to manuscripts and patent applications.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in Biosafety Level 2 labs, follow GLPs, and maintain good laboratory practices.
- Willingness to learn and apply viral vector analysis tools; basic knowledge of spectrophotometry, ELISA, HPLC, and SDS‑PAGE.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and within a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
- Excellent cross‑functional relationship building and representation in diverse meetings.
