Primary Duties :
The Yoh resource is expected to apply expertise across several practical skills including flow cytometry and cell sorting in support of the Client's Vaccines R&D Global Immunology function. The role is a lab-based research scientist who will be participating in various teams to support preclinical and early clinical evaluation of vaccine candidates against various respiratory viruses. Knowledge of immunoassay instruments, including flow cytometer analyzers, high-speed sorter, centrifuges, multi-mode plate readers and plate washers will be required.

Individual will be performing laboratory work including flow cytometry and immunoassays, recording data in specified formats and/or recording detailed day-to-day work in electronic laboratory notebook. Responsibilities will include reagent preparation, lab housekeeping and flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters maintenance. Applicant must be capable of working both independently and as part of a structured team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support experimental assay design, optimization, and execute multi-parameter flow cytometry panels (beyond 20 colors) for comprehensive T cell and B cell subset identification
• Execute multi-cytokine Intracellular Cytokine Staining (ICS) assays (IFN-?, TNF-?, IL-2, IL-4, IL-17, etc.) following antigen-specific stimulation
  
  Operate and maintain flow cytometers (conventional and spectral platforms) with adherence to quality control protocols
• Execute high-speed, high-purity cell sorting using Sony or similar instrumentation for isolation of antigen-specific T cell and B cell populations or other cell subsets of interest.
• Optimize sort gates and collection strategies to maximize cell recovery and purity
• Troubleshoot sort performance issues including clogging, deflection plate alignment, and collection efficiency
• Analyze flow cytometry data using industry-standard software (OMIQ)
• Apply appropriate gating strategies following established SOPs and scientific best practices
• Analyze and summarize experimental outcomes, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data in electronic laboratory notebook.
• Conduct experiments and prepare power point slides for internal presentations as required.
• Write standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documents for methods, instruments, or work processes as required.
• Collaborate as needed with internal partners in other functional areas, external vendors, and external scientific partners.
• Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others, and the environment, consistent with the community and industry standards.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BS with 4+ years or MS with 2+ years relevant experience. Degree should be in Immunology, Biotechnology, Virology, Biochemistry or related field.
• Hands-on expertise with multi-parameter flow cytometry (minimum 10-color panels) and/or cell sorting .
• Demonstrated experience with intracellular cytokine staining in preclinical and/ or human PBMC samples and/or ability to execute sterile sorts, optimize sort gates, and troubleshoot sorter performance.
