Nova Biomedical is seeking an Associate Scientist to join a multidisciplinary team responsible for the research and development of chemical and biological sensors, assays, and reagents used in clinical analyzers and instrumentation.
Working under general supervision, the Research Associate I will conduct laboratory research using established methodologies, characterize organic compounds, collect and summarize experimental data, and prepare technical reports. This entry-level to early-career position provides an opportunity to develop laboratory expertise while collaborating with senior scientists and cross‑functional teams to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
Responsibilities:- Conduct research and development activities within assigned areas under general supervision using established methodologies.
- Support the development of chemical and biological sensors, assays, and reagents for clinical analyzers and instrumentation.
- Perform laboratory experiments involving organic synthesis and related scientific techniques.
- Use analytical techniques such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry to characterize organic compounds.
- Accurately record, organize, store, summarize, and evaluate experimental information and data.
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records in accordance with established documentation practices.
- Develop laboratory skills and familiarity with equipment operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and raw-data collection.
- Prepare samples, reagents, materials, and equipment required for laboratory experiments.
- Identify routine experimental or equipment‑related problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Analyze experimental results and communicate observations to senior scientists and project team members.
- Prepare clear and accurate technical reports summarizing methods, results, observations, and conclusions.
- Collaborate with senior scientists and cross-functional groups to meet project timelines and quality requirements.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe laboratory workspace.
- Follow applicable laboratory procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related life science discipline.
- 0 to 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Hands‑on laboratory experience in organic synthesis or a related scientific field.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as HPLC, FT‑IR, and LC‑MS/MS preferred.
- Ability to perform general laboratory procedures and use laboratory equipment safely and accurately.
- Ability to collect, record, organize, and summarize experimental data.
- Ability to identify routine laboratory problems and recommend potential solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate laboratory records.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
