Senior Account Executive – Federal Accounts
Location:
Waltham, MA (On‑site)
Xometry is seeking a senior‑level sales professional to prospect, qualify, and generate new business for existing federal and defense customers. The role focuses on understanding customer needs from prototype to sustainment, leveraging our digital marketplace to connect buyers with manufacturing capacity.
The ideal candidate is achievement‑oriented, collaborative, and comfortable in a dynamic, high‑growth environment. The role involves constant communication with teammates, internal stakeholders, and customers, and requires a deep understanding of a $50 billion addressable U.S. market for custom manufacturing.
Responsibilities- Sales of technical products and services to defense and federal customers
- Strategic revenue growth of federal customers
- Initiating and building relationships with engineering staff, program management, procurement and executive management
- Setting up sales calls for company executives and engineers with prospective clients and qualifying potential leads
- Understanding federal procurement and contracting processes, including FAR and DFARS
- Working with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs
- Ensuring accurate data entry and management within the company’s CRM or sales management system
- Representing the company in a professional manner
- Proposing winning solutions and negotiating contract terms
- Participating in ongoing training and mentoring programs
- Continuously enhancing company performance aligned with company goals
- Complying with Xometry’s quality and safety systems, policies, and procedures
- 7+ years of experience in federal acquisition, either in government or industry (Navy or Air Force experience preferred)
- 2+ years of sales experience in a closing and quota‑carrying role
- 2+ years of experience selling technical products or services in the manufacturing space
- Knowledge of government contracting and procurement processes
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing or engineering highly preferred
- Ability to travel up to 30‑50%
- High proficiency with in‑person and virtual customer presentations
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom/Web Ex/Go To Meeting
- CRM experience with Salesforce or similar systems
- Prospecting and sales planning skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong negotiation skills and results orientation
- Ability to work well in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent years of experience)
The estimated base salary range for new hires is $125,000‑135,000 annually plus commission based on performance. Benefits include 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, paid time off (vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave), EAP, and additional wellness resources.
