Temporary Overhire Electrician
We are seeking skilled and reliable temporary overhire electricians to supplement our core lighting staff during peak production periods. This role is project-based and primarily focused on the physical execution of lighting load-ins, focus calls, and strikes. The ideal candidate can work efficiently as part of a team, follow directions precisely, and adhere to all safety standards.
The hourly rate for the position is $22.50.
Key Responsibilities- Load-in:
Read lighting plots to hang, circuit, cable, and patch lighting instruments and practicals. - Focus:
Assist the Lighting Designer and Master Electrician during focus sessions, including physically positioning instruments from ladders, catwalks, or personnel lifts. - Strike:
Assist in the safe and efficient dismantling, sorting, and storage of all lighting equipment at the end of a production. - Equipment Prep:
Perform basic equipment checks and preparation as directed by the Master Electrician. - Safety:
Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices at heights. - Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other production departments to ensure a smooth and safe workflow.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a stage electrician in a professional or academic setting.
- Strong working knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment, including conventional and LED fixtures.
- Understanding of basic electrical principles, power distribution, and safe working practices.
- Familiarity with DMX and other signal protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and hookup charts.
- Must be comfortable working at heights, including on ladders, catwalks, and aerial work platforms.
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
- Proficiency in operating ETC Eos family lighting consoles.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
- Work environment includes exposure to heights, enclosed spaces, dust, and moderate noise levels.
- Hours are project-dependent and will include evenings and weekends.
