ABOUT THE JOB
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Engineer with a specialized focus on HVAC systems to join our team at Anduril Industries. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe operation, maintenance, and optimization of all building mechanical systems, with a particular emphasis on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment crucial for production processes, comfort, and environmental control within our industrial environment.
The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in industrial HVAC systems, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.
- HVAC System Management & Maintenance:
- Chillers (centrifugal, screw, reciprocating)
- Cooling Towers and associated water treatment
- Air Handling Units (AHUs), RTUs, split systems, CRAC units
- Process cooling systems and refrigeration equipment
- Pumps, motors, fans, variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Ductwork, diffusers, and air distribution systems
- Humidification/dehumidification systems
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance (PM), and corrective maintenance (CM) on a wide range of industrial HVAC/R equipment.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues using schematics and test equipment; execute timely repairs.
- BMS/BAS Operation: Operate, monitor, and adjust building management systems to optimize HVAC performance.
- Energy Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for energy conservation without compromising critical manufacturing processes.
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Monitor and maintain IAQ, including filter changes and coil cleaning.
- General Building & Facilities Maintenance:
- Electrical (motor troubleshooting, lighting, power distribution)
- Plumbing (pumps, drains, fixtures, domestic water systems)
- Fire/Life Safety systems (basic checks, alarm response coordination)
- Compressed air systems
- Basic structural, carpentry, and general repairs as needed
- System Oversight: Provide support for other critical building systems.
- Work Order Management: Use a CMMS to document work orders, track equipment history, and manage spare parts inventory.
- Emergency Response: Act as a key responder during facilities‐related emergencies.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Work with external service providers and contractors to ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
- Manufacturing Environment Specifics:
- Production Criticality: Understand the impact of facility systems on production and prioritize maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Process Cooling/Heating: Maintain and troubleshoot systems directly supporting manufacturing processes.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety policies, LOTO, confined space entry, hot work permits, and fall protection; comply with OSHA, EPA, and local codes.
- Reliability & Root Cause Analysis: Participate in RCA of equipment failures to implement long‑term solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and system diagrams.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with production personnel, facilities team, management, and external vendors.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or operators as needed.
- Education &
Certifications:- Technical certification in HVAC/R, Facilities Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.
- Relevant trade licenses (e.g., Boiler Operator, Electrical, Plumbing) highly desirable.
- OSHA 10 or 30‑hour certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 5‑7 years of progressive experience as a Building Engineer, HVAC Technician, or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of industrial HVAC/R equipment.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- In‑depth knowledge of HVAC/R principles, theories, and best practices.
