Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Optimization Engineer / Senior Software Engineer with a strong foundation in applied mathematics, optimization, and software development. This role is central to building and enhancing a cutting-edge decision-support platform, with particular focus on the health insurance and employee benefits domain. You will work at the intersection of algorithm design and scalable engineering, developing solutions that impact thousands of individuals making critical financial and healthcare decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and optimize mathematical models that drive personalized financial and health plan recommendations.
  • Build scalable, production-grade software in Python, integrating optimization engines with data pipelines and user-facing applications.
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and domain experts to translate complex requirements into robust engineering solutions.
  • Research and apply advanced optimization techniques (linear, nonlinear, stochastic, integer programming, etc.) to solve real-world benefit and insurance challenges.
  • Ensure software reliability, performance, and maintainability through best practices in engineering.
  • Stay current with trends in financial planning, healthcare, and benefits technology to inform ongoing product strategy.
Qualifications Required:
  • Advanced degree in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong experience with optimization modeling and algorithms (linear/nonlinear programming, stochastic optimization, constraint programming).
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with optimization libraries such as Pyomo, Gurobi, CPLEX, or Sci Py.
  • Solid software engineering skills including version control, testing, and CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
  • PhD or MS with a focus in optimization, applied mathematics, or a quantitative engineering discipline.
  • Prior experience in health insurance, employee benefits, or healthcare analytics.
  • Experience deploying optimization models in cloud environments (AWS).
  • Familiarity with data visualization and API integration.
