HGV Technician

Location: Hersham

Our client, a reputable family-run haulage and transport company based in Walton on Thames, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV Technician to work within a growing business that values employee development, stability, and a friendly environment. The position of HGV Technician offers varied responsibilities, career progression, and competitive pay.

Benefits:

• Competitive hourly rate of 20 to 25 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a half
• Estimated annual salary of approximately 52,000, depending on experience
• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with optional overtime typically totaling 50+ hours
• Full training provided for heavy and specialist equipment
• Tools provided by the company, with personal basic tools required

As an HGV Technician, your duties will include:

• Servicing and maintaining a fleet of approximately 50 lorries, mainly Volvos and DAFs, alongside trailers
• Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and defect repairs on HGVs and trailers
• Performing general mechanical repairs to ensure vehicles remain in optimal condition
• Ensuring efficient workshop operations through teamwork and communication
• Supporting business growth by mentoring less experienced mechanics when needed
• Using personal basic tools for daily tasks, with the company's specialist tools available for heavier work

Requirements for the HGV Technician position are as follows:

• Proven experience working as an HGV mechanic or fleet technician
• No formal qualifications required; relevant HGV experience is essential
• Air tech experience is advantageous but not mandatory
• Class 1 or Class 2 licences are desirable but not essential
• Owns basic tools necessary for mechanical work
• Reliable, diligent, and motivated to develop within a supportive team environment
