Substitute Teacher

If you need to stop by the Board Office, you MUST make an appointment beforehand.
Substitutes will receive $125.00 per day. Substitutes are paid on the 15th of the month following the month worked (e.g., September assignments are paid on October 15).

• Valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher Instructional Certificate or NJ-issued Teaching Certification.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans left by the permanent teacher.
• A criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status are required.
• Certificates (County or State if you have one)
• Criminal History Review (see below)
• Transcripts
• Once all documents are submitted and reviewed, youmaybe contacted for an interview.
• Note you must obtain test results from a TB/Mantoux.

• Completion of 30 semester-hour credits at a nationally accredited college or university.
• Educator must be enrolled in a nationally accredited college or university at the time of application. Verification of enrollment is required.
• Educator must be at least 20 years of age.
• Criminal History Record Check:
  The approval date must be within 5 months of the application date with "Substitute Teacher" as the job position.

• Completion of 60 semester-hour credits at a nationally accredited college or university.
