Anticipated Preschool Special Education Teacher
Starting Date: Aug 25, 2026
Job DescriptionWareham Public Schools seeks a Certified Preschool Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The role is a dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, providing specialized instruction to children ages 3‑5 in our separate preschool settings for a leave of absence.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets diverse learning needs while maintaining a safe, structured classroom environment.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Conduct student assessments to determine functional capabilities and make informed placement recommendations.
- Foster strong partnerships with families, teachers, instructional assistants, and therapists.
- Participate in IEP meetings.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records and documentation.
- Research and implement evidence-based interventions and teaching strategies, following district curricula for Math and ELA.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team collaboration.
- Organize and structure the assigned classroom.
- Collaborate with other teachers, instructors, coordinators, and administration.
- Plan and supervise the classroom schedule and staff.
- Coordinate schedules of all ancillary personnel involved in the classroom.
- Keep open and ongoing communication with each child's interdisciplinary team.
- Identify needed materials and equipment under educational plans.
- Be responsible for education of each student consistent with IEP goals and objectives.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of each student's functioning level.
- Draft IEP and progress notes, and complete and distribute progress notes detailing each student's progress toward meeting IEP goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, administration, or superintendent of schools.

- Massachusetts Teacher Licensure in one of the following:
Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK‑2 or PreK‑8), Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities (PreK‑2 or All). - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to a collaborative team approach.
- SEI Endorsement:
Candidates must have a Sheltered English Immersion endorsement, vital for supporting English language learners in the classroom. - Experience working with young children with diverse learning needs.
- Background in social‑emotional learning and behavior management.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
