Job DescriptionWareham Public Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, flexible, and student-focused Permanent Intermittent Substitute Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide instructional support to students by serving in a variety of classroom assignments on a daily basis at Wareham Elementary School during the absence of classroom teachers. The ideal candidate is committed to maintaining a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment, can adapt quickly to different grade levels and classroom settings, and works collaboratively with school staff to ensure continuity of instruction.
For the School Year, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Administer substitute plans
- Keep a calm, safe classroom environment
- Maintain an academic environment within the classroom and school
- Perform duties as assigned by the administration/classroom teacher
- Supervise students as assigned by the administration.
- Work Year 180 days, Monday - Friday, when school is in session
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $120 to $130 Per Day
Job Requirements- A minimum of two (2) years of college coursework is required.
Experience working with elementary-aged students is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of classroom settings and grade levels.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and support staff.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and fingerprint-based national and state criminal history record checks
Compensation varies based based on DESE certification ($120 per day not certified, or $130 per day DESE certified)
