Listed by The Telegraph as one of the top 250 Hotels in the UK 2026, The Bell & Crown has been everyone's favourite local for longer than most people can remember. The garden has a brand-new layout to make the most of the summer evenings and the 6 bedrooms upstairs have had a refresh.

We're looking for an Assistant General Manager who'll make sure every guest feels welcome, whether they're here for one drink or the whole evening. This is a hands-on role. You'll lead from the front, help build a team that genuinely enjoys working together, and set the standard every day. We're after someone who takes pride in running a proper pub. Someone who notices the little things, backs their team, and understands that great hospitality is about making people feel looked after without making a fuss about it.

Perks

of Working with Us
  • 50% off food across all our places
  • Monthly team rewards
  • £100 voucher on your birthday
  • Structured (or relaxed) training
  • Real opportunities to grow with the business
  • Supplier trips & team days out
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading the pub day-to-day, making sure everything runs smoothly from kitchen to bar to floor.
  • Welcoming and hosting guests with warmth and energy.
  • Supporting the General Manager to create a fun, safe, and professional workplace.
  • Supervising, coaching, and motivating the team to deliver exceptional hospitality, every time.
  • Running shifts, setting the standard for food, drinks, and hospitality.
  • Handling bookings, guest requests, and feedback like a pro.
  • Assist the GM in managing stock, cash, and admin so everything adds up and runs to plan.
  • Keeping an eye on compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements.
  • Helping plan events, promotions, and ways to make every visit memorable.
  • Making sure every guest leaves happy (and keen to come back!).
What We’re Looking For
  • Hospitality experience in a busy pub, restaurant, or bar.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • A genuine love for people, food, and drink.
  • Someone who takes pride in getting the details right and making things happen.

  • A natural team player with energy and enthusiasm.
At Chickpea, we're reimagining rural hospitality.

That means bringing well-loved pubs back to life, serving honest food and decent booze, and creating places where locals, regulars and visitors all feel at home.

Great people build great pubs and we're lucky to work with a brilliant bunch already. You'll be joining a team of hospitality professionals who are constantly honing their craft, learning from each other and raising the bar for great hospitality.
