Withum is seeking an Outsourced Accounting Manager to join our OASyS team in the Houston office. The position is hybrid‑based and will oversee a team of professionals servicing construction, manufacturing, distribution, and oilfield services clients.
Responsibilities- Managing and mentoring a team; assign work, review deliverables, provide coaching and feedback.
- Overseeing accounts payable workflows, review/approval of vendor and contractor payments, maintain supporting documentation.
- Reviewing and approving payroll processing and related filings in collaboration with client HR/payroll providers.
- Leading the month‑end close process, reviewing proposed journal entries, ensuring timely reconciliations, maintaining an accurate general ledger.
- Reviewing all proposed journal entries (revenue, payroll, accruals, reclasses) and confirming appropriate supporting details.
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving variances on cash, AR, prepaid, fixed assets, accruals, and other key accounts.
- Supporting budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, and performance analytics; helping clients translate results into actionable decisions.
- Partnering with client leadership (owners, administrators, controllers, practice managers) as day‑to‑day point of contact; proactively communicating status, risks, and recommendations.
- Coordinating and facilitating external reviews and annual financial statement audits; managing auditor requests and supporting timely issuance of deliverables.
- Evaluating and strengthening internal controls; streamlining close and reporting processes; implementing best practices across AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred and/or MBA equivalent.
- 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership and review responsibilities.
- Demonstrated client‑service experience (outsourced accounting, advisory, public accounting, or consulting) with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial results and recommendations to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with Sage Intacct and/or Quick Books Online; strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation).
- Experience with construction, manufacturing, distribution, and oilfield service industries and knowledge of accounting reporting.
- Strong knowledge of month‑end close, GAAP‑based financial statements, account reconciliations, and internal controls; continuous‑improvement mindset.
- Proven ability to lead teams, collaborate cross‑functionally, and build trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
