Accounting Clerk

MERC, a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services. The Accounting Clerk will perform accounting and finance support functions under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Finance.
Scheduled Weekly
Hours:
40 hours per week.
Job Family: Staff MERC Non-exempt.
- Reconcile procurement cards, UPS shipping invoices, car rental invoices, and the MERC bank statement to the checkbook.
- Manage all company travel including booking trips, preparing itineraries, obtaining internal approvals, and reconciling and processing travel expense vouchers.
- Support accounting operations by scanning and filing documents in a timely manner.
- Serve as backup to the MERC receptionist during daily lunch periods and other scheduled times as required.
- Work with financial, accounting, and/or program data efficiently and effectively, with a demonstrated attention to detail.
- Protect the organization's value by keeping all information confidential.
- Execute other duties and responsibilities and/or tasks as directed in a timely and accurate manner.
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- High school diploma and 6 years of progressively responsible administrative experience.
- Previous experience working with accounting and financial reports.
- High degree of proficiency and knowledge of personal computers.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use the internet to extract information pertinent to performing assigned duties.
- Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; exercise independent judgment handling difficult and sensitive issues; professional demeanor in a highly visible administrative office.
- Good use of the English language and strong oral and written communication skills.
