Job Description
The Staff Assistant II – Part‑time position will perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities. This position is within the Business Services – Finance Section of GCFES, which is responsible for EMS billing and processing invoices for payment.
Responsibilities include daily interaction with ambulance transport and patients regarding payment of EMS services, interaction with outside vendors, processing records requests that may contain Protected Health Information (PHI) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality. The role handles clerical tasks such as answering phones and emails, filing, preparing documents, processing invoices, assisting patients with payments, data entry, and providing customer support by researching and providing information to the public and other departments.
The position serves as a point of contact between the Fire Department, utility companies, vendors, and the public to ensure clear communication and efficient resolution of requests. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service are essential.
- Answer phone calls and emails, providing information and directing inquiries.
- Process and pay invoices, including utility bills.
- Assist patients with credit card payments over the phone in accordance with county policies.
- Process attorney requests and produce document requests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Enter and maintain accurate utility usage data in spreadsheets and the Energy Cap program.
- Serve as a liaison between the Fire Department and utility companies to resolve billing or service issues.
- Provide general office support to the Business Services – Finance section as needed.

Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma, or G.A.T. (G.E.D.).
- One (1) year of administrative support or related office experience.
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Experience in data entry and finance while using Microsoft Word, Excel, and related software.
