Overview

The Commodity Manager serves as a sourcing expert in a particular class of goods or service. This position creates and maintains supplier relationships, negotiates all pricing structures and contracts, and ensures pricing and delivery meet contract guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Drive vendor selection strategy, contracts management, and continuous monitoring to optimize collaboration and mitigate risks.
  • Write, launch, manage, and successfully close RFPs for all new suppliers or services.
  • Review and consolidate existing suppliers in an assigned commodity, deactivating unused suppliers, removing redundancies, and seeking opportunities to consolidate suppliers providing the same goods or services.
  • Ensure all supplier contracts are uploaded to the database with key terms captured for reporting.
  • Lead, negotiate, and contract all new and renewal supplier agreements.
  • Track all contract negotiations and store generated contracts in the assigned database.
  • Serve as an internal and external escalation point for all supplier questions and issues.
  • Measure supplier and vendor performance against agreed cost‑saving and cost‑avoidance targets.
  • Monitor, track, and respond to critical market forecasts and condition changes.
  • Conduct category spend analyses and reporting, supplier stratification, supply market, and category industry research.
  • Build and manage relationships with priority business executives, serving as a key member to support implementation of business strategies through advanced procurement initiatives and team alignment.
  • Facilitate the entire sourcing process and closely collaborate with clients to select and award business to suppliers.
  • Demonstrate a strategic business mindset, organizational savvy, an executive‑level presence, and balance multiple stakeholder interests simultaneously.
  • Stay abreast of industry news, market trends, and regulatory changes that could affect commodity prices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the organization’s quality program(s).
  • Travel as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Finance from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • Related certifications such as IIBA, CPM, CIPS, or CPSM (preferred).
  • Eight (8) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Experience with P2P platforms and Power BI (preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics concisely to audiences at various levels.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and storytelling skills using data.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to create comprehensive, accurate, and constructive written reports.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
Work Environment
