Proposal Leader – Government Marketing Team

Join AECOM as a Proposal Leader in the Government Marketing team, responsible for leading key US Federal proposals and managing proposal staff.

This will be a hybrid position including a combination of remote and in-office work schedules, that can be based in, but not limited to:
Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with regional and Business Line teams on identified priority pursuits, including pre-positioning, capture, responses to RFQs and RFPs, and shortlist interviews.
  • Report to the Marketing Team Lead within our Governments Marketing group.
  • Lead large, complex, priority must-win pursuits from capture through to interview stage, which may include multiple disciplines/geographies.
  • Facilitate workshops/sessions to support capture manager in developing win strategy.
  • Analyze debriefs and apply lessons learned to add value to strategy and reviews.
  • Create detailed annotated outlines and first-draft content, compliance lists, and capture and proposal schedules, with ability to pivot if requirements change.
  • Lead and contribute to writing proposal sections such as cover letters, executive summaries, past performance sections, management approaches, and staffed resumes.
  • Participate actively in Go/No-Go decisions, capture strategies and greenlight analyses, and drive compliance with delegation of authority guidelines and capture planning activities.
  • Facilitate color reviews (pink and red team) for assigned pursuits, and apply lessons learned to enhance proposal and win plan.
  • Serve as a reviewer on color reviews for priority pursuits led by others, applying in-depth institutional knowledge.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of deliverables.
  • Support debriefs and gather client feedback on proposals to demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Manage proposal and project filing on the secure server and CRM.
  • Participate in strategic planning, evaluating marketing intelligence and developing win strategies for strategic pursuits.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of internal training on core processes and tools.
  • Lead special projects involving BL staff, as directed by Governments Marketing Lead.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or a related field, and 6+ years of related proposal experience, ideally within the US Federal Civilian and/or DoD client sectors or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of and interest in the A/E industry, including AECOM’s Federal clients, projects, people, credentials, and competitors.
  • Evidence of successful leadership of multi-disciplinary or multi-geography proposals valued >$20 million.
  • Thorough understanding of effective proposal and presentation best practices and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience applying industry best practices to support positioning, client or business development processes.
  • Strong proposal writing and editing skills, including grammar and style.
  • Strong working knowledge of desktop publishing and graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Initiative and organizational skill to manage multiple projects concurrently and bring tasks to completion.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential or sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Diplomacy with peers and internal clients in handling challenging situations.
  • Resourceful problem solving ability.
  • US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of related proposal experience, ideally within the US Federal Civilian and/or DoD client sectors.
  • APMP/SMPS certification is a plus.
  • Understanding of CRM and Salesforce is a plus.
