overview

gmre – position: systems engineer sme to support the aflcmc mar jpo at robins afb, ga. This position is contingent upon contract award.

the air force life cycle management center (aflcmc) mar jpo manages systems to provide precise positioning, navigation, and timing information to a variety of dod weapon systems. These systems include but are not limited to the software defined user equipment (sdue), miniaturized airborne gps receiver (magr) 2000, embedded gps/inertial navigation system (egi), defense advanced gps receiver (dagr), gps antenna system 1 (gas-1), advanced digital antenna production system (adap), gps antennas, antenna electronics (ae), resilient embedded gps/ins (r-egi), military gps user equipment (mgue);

air force vanguard transition programs, and alternative navigation capabilities. Some systems are in initial development and many are undergoing modernization efforts to respond to threats, improve supportability, resiliency, and open architecture standards. Modernization is underway for magr-2k and egi receiver systems; r-egi and sdue are in rapid development using innovative acquisition approaches.

key responsibilities
  • apply systems engineering principles across the full life cycle of mar systems, from requirements definition through development, test, fielding, and sustainment
  • translate operational and mission needs into clear, traceable system, subsystem, and interface requirements
  • develop, review, and manage system specifications, interface control documents (icds), and technical baselines
  • perform trade studies and technical analyses to evaluate alternative designs, architectures, and technologies
  • ensure requirements traceability across design, implementation, integration, and verification activities
  • support integration of multi-gnss and navigation subsystems into dod fixed-wing and rotary aircraft platforms
  • support system integration, developmental testing, and operational testing to verify and validate system performance
  • participate in technical design reviews, configuration audits, and milestone events
  • support modular open systems approach (mosa) and open architecture implementation to enhance flexibility and upgradeability
  • provide systems engineering support for pnt, navwar compliance, gps security certification, airworthiness, and cybersecurity requirements
  • identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks; support risk management planning and execution
  • collaborate with program management, test, logistics, cybersecurity, and acquisition teams to ensure technical alignment
  • support development and maintenance of systems engineering plans (sep), requirements documents, and related program artifacts
  • provide technical input to acquisition strategies, schedules, and cost estimates
  • support sustainment engineering activities including obsolescence management, technology refresh, and system modernization efforts
