Our client is a rapidly growing power infrastructure developer focused on delivering behind-the-méter power generation solutions for data center operators and other mission-u2013critical customers.
The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking a technically strong Project Engineer to support the development and execution of power generation and electrical infrastructure projects. This individual will serve as an internal electrical subject-u2013matter expert with a strong emphasis on medium-voltage infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switch gear, protective relaying, power distribution systems, and utility interconnections.
The ideal candidate combines strong electrical engineering fundamentals with practical project execution experience and will work closely with EPC contractors, consulting engineers, OEMs, utilities, and internal stakeholders throughout project development and execution.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the internal technical SME for medium-voltage electrical systems supporting power generation and data center infrastructure projects.
- Lead technical coordination related to substations, transformers, switch gear, protection systems, power distribution infrastructure, and utility interconnections.
- Review one-line diagrams, electrical studies, engineering packages, specifications, and technical deliverables.
- Support the integration of natural gas-fired generation facilities with medium-voltage distribution systems and customer electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, consulting engineers, OEMs, utilities, and interconnection providers throughout project development and execution.
- Support equipment selection, vendor evaluations, technical bid reviews, and procurement activities.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, commissioning activities, startup support, and technical troubleshooting.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with electrical infrastructure, equipment procurement, utility interfaces, and project execution.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred.
- Approximately 5-12 years of relevant experience, with an ideal target range of 7-12 years.
- Strong medium-voltage electrical experience required.
- Experience with some combination of:
- Substations
- Switchgear
- Transformers
- Protective relaying
- Power distribution systems
- Utility interconnections
- Electrical balance-of-plant infrastructure
- Generation tie-ins
- Experience reviewing electrical studies such as short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, and load-flow studies.
- Experience working for engineering consulting firms, EPC contractors, utilities, power developers, generation owners, or mission-critical infrastructure organizations.
- PE license is a plus, but not required.
