Position
Principal Field Engineer (Network) or Sr Principal Field Engineer (Network) – Warner Robins, GA (Robins Airforce Base).
Position OverviewSupport operations and maintenance of complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication systems providing voice and data services in real‑world operations. Work with a multidisciplinary team to develop technical expertise across the engineering spectrum and maintain mission‑enabling information security.
Responsibilities- Maintain and implement network architecture for tactical communication systems.
- Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for networking devices.
- Perform routine network administration tasks, including OS and service pack updates.
- Administer equipment and environments such as Linux servers/clients, network‑attached storage, virtual machines, routers, switches, firewalls, and HAIPEs.
- Collect data, monitor through Splunk, and maintain the system’s cyber security posture.
- Use network topology and diagramming for troubleshooting.
- Assist and develop proficiency with other engineering disciplines.
- Work closely with Active‑Duty military and internal Northrop Grumman Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Work shift schedules during exercises or operational scheduling of up to a 12‑hour workday on occasion.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry boxes, equipment, etc.
- Must be willing to work flexible shift schedules, including weekends, and up to a 12‑hour workday on occasion.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years’ experience in network devices and computer systems.
- DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program (CWQP) or greater (CompTIA Security+) within 6 months of start.
- CCNA or CCNP certification within 9 months of start.
- Experience administering Linux and Cisco client/server systems, managing IP‑based networks, and solving difficult technical problems focused on voice and data services over wireless IP networks.
- Strong understanding of OSI model and external routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).
- U.S. citizenship and a current/active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years’ experience in network devices and computer systems.
- DoD 8140 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program (CWQP) or greater (CompTIA Security+) within 6 months of start.
- CCNA or CCNP certification within 9 months of start.
- Experience administering Linux and Cisco client/server systems, managing IP‑based networks, and solving difficult technical problems focused on voice and data services over wireless IP networks.
- Strong understanding of OSI model and external routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
- Leadership experience with cross‑functional engineering teams.
- In‑depth Cisco‑based IP networks, system administration with Linux, Splunk, Red Hat Virtualization, and Windows
10 Professional Linux. - Experience working with airborne equipment.
- Knowledge of security authentication protocols, NTP, SNMP, and DMVPN.
- Experience with High Assurance IP Encryptors (HAIPEs).
Primary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 – $. Secondary Level Salary Range: $ – $. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long‑Term Incentives. Health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business are also provided.
